Santral Seröz Retinopati (SSR)
It is a disease mostly seen in men between the ages of 30-50. The most important cause is thought to be stress. Cortisone drugs and smoking are also among the possible causes.
In this disease, fluid accumulates in the macula lutea, the yellow spot of the eye. The accumulated fluid blurs vision, causing objects to appear irregular and smaller, and colors appear paler.
Patients usually recover in the first three months. These patients are told to take a vacation, stop taking cortisone medication and stop smoking. Some oral and drip medications are started. If the disease lasts longer than three months, photodynamic therapy should be performed.
